- “....Thursday, a panel discussion addressed the topic "How and why should we thank God?" in which IU students from different religious traditions spoke. Following the discussion, everyone gathered for a bowl of ashura, a traditional dish made with dried fruit, grains and sugar.
The hope is that these discussions help people see the commonalities, the many aspects that religions all share.”

The event, attended by about 150 people crammed into the Frangipani Room, was sponsored by the Bloomington Muslim Dialog Group a collection of Muslim individuals dedicated to promoting respect and understanding among all faith traditions by organizing settings for the exchange of ideas and social interaction.

- Herald Times covered our inauguration ceremony with a front page article on the following Sunday paper, March 9, 2003. The article started with a nice description of the reception: "Amish girls in bonnets and Muslim women in hijabs (head scarves) mixed with Catholics, Baptists, Quakers, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Scientologists and at least one heathen Saturday at a Turkish buffet offering lentil loaves, spinach pie, grape leaves and baklava."
